- Color Pattern Most Red-tailed Hawks are rich brown above and pale below, with a streaked belly and, on the wing underside, a dark bar between shoulder and wrist. The tail is usually pale below and cinnamon-red above, though in young birds it’s brown and banded. “Dark-morph” birds are all chocolate-brown with a warm red tail. “Rufous-morph” birds are reddish-brown on the chest with a dark belly.
Calls Adults make a hoarse, screaming kee-eeeee-arr. It lasts 2-3 seconds and is usually given while soaring. During courtship, they also make a shrill chwirk, sometimes giving several of these calls in a row.
- Size & Shape A medium-sized hawk with the classic accipiter shape: broad, rounded wings and a very long tail. In Cooper’s Hawks, the head often appears large, the shoulders broad, and the tail rounded.
- Color Pattern Adults are steely blue-gray above with warm reddish bars on the underparts and thick dark bands on the tail. Juveniles are brown above and crisply streaked with brown on the upper breast, giving them a somewhat hooded look compared with young Sharp-shinned Hawks' more diffuse streaking.
- Calls: Outside of the breeding season, Cooper’s Hawks tend to be silent. The most common call is a loud, grating cak-cak-cak, 2-5 seconds long, given by both sexes in defense of the nest. This call is also given during courtship. Males frequently make a kik call to tell their mates where they are; females make this call too, but less often. Females make a whaa call when approaching or receiving food from males
2.Northern Goshawk:

1.Gray Hawk:
- Size & Shape Gray Hawks are medium-sized raptors. Like other buteos they have short, broad wings. The tail is fairly long (especially immatures), giving them some resemblance to an accipiter. They appear long-legged when perched. Females are noticeably larger than males.
- Color Pattern Adult Gray Hawks are pale gray birds with finely barred chests and prominently banded black-and-white tails. The undertail coverts are white; the wingtips are dark. Immatures have dark brown backs with heavy brown streaks and spots on the underparts. Their faces are boldly patterned with a white cheek and eyebrow separated by a dark stripe through the eye.
